Property Overview

Located in both Foard and Knox Counties, the Blue Goose Ranch is a great hunting or cattle ranch. The ranch has approximately 2750 acres of land. The North Wichita River, a livewater stream, runs along part of the northern and eastern borders for over 2.5 miles. It is very private and is surrounded by ranches of 2000+ acres on the south and west sides, as well as across the river.

In addition to the ranch's frontage on the Wichita River, the property has other water features. There are four tanks on the property, all well-situated along draws so they catch runoff easily. Two seasonal creeks wind through the ranch too, before they merge with the Wichita. The north creek is called Black Top Creek, and the south, Buffalo Creek. Just one mile south of the ranch is Truscott Brine Lake, an 1800 acre lake built by the Corps of Engineers. You pass this lake on the way to the ranch, driving two miles along its high dam on the north side. It is very scenic, as well as beneficial to the area's wildlife.

Surrounded by large ranches, the hunting on the Blue Goose has little pressure. Whitetail deer roam the valleys and pastures, as well a solid population of feral hogs. The natural vegetation and cover along the creek bottoms create an excellent bobwhite quail habitat, and there are plenty of roosting trees for turkeys as well. The Wichita is a flyway for waterfowl, as well as mourning dove. This property has only been hunted lightly over the last decade, more for game control purposes than sport. The ranch has some places ideal for developing wildlife food plots too.

For lodging, there are two cabins in place. The main cabin has one bedroom, rural water and electricity in place, a bathroom with a shower, a kitchen, wood-burning fireplace, and a large covered, concrete porch. It has metal siding and a metal roof. The second cabin is an open floorplan bunkhouse and has electricity and an outdoor campfire area. Rural water lines are run deep into the heart of the ranch, and there are several locations suitable to building a house, if desired.

The property is cross-fenced into different pastures, and cattle have been rotated year around. There is county water for the cattle and wildlife throughout the ranch, held in large concrete water troughs. The current owner has 2500 acres on the south and 4000 acres on the west leased to run cattle as well.
